Sound Pioneers Residency at the University of Hull

As part of the Sound Pioneers residency run by Yorkshire Sound Women's Network, I got to develop a new ambisonic composition in the University of Hull's Ambisonic Studio, mentored by Dr. Matthew Barnard, which was then performed on HEARO's 50-channel loudspeaker orchestra in Middleton Hall. Find out more about the event here.

The residency provided an opportunity to step outside my established artistic niche and embark on a dedicated exploration of the intricacies of sonic texture, harmony, and spatialised mixing techniques. The result of this experimentation was a new work entitled 'Murmurs', an ambisonic sound work that combines otherworldly digital soundscapes and electroacoustic compositional techniques with the grounding textures of analogue synthesisers, manipulated live instrumentation, and processed field recordings.
