Maarja Nuut is a singer, violinist, electronic artist, and composer whose work spans a vast range of rich musical worlds. Classically trained at several prestigious music institutions, she’s since delved into various disparate genres: Hindustani classical music, Estonian archive sounds and dance, ethnomusicological research, and the outer limits of looping and electronic sounds. Fuelled by her curiosity, such exploration comes from a desire to probe each world’s musical language, techniques, and expressional qualities – which she swirls into her own, mesmerising art.
Tom Rogerson studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music and he made his live debut as an improvising pianist in 2002, before releasing an improvised record with Reid Anderson and Mike Lewis in 2004. He formed the band Three Trapped Tigers in 2007, blending elements of electronic, jazz and noise rock into a cohesive whole. They would perform and work with artists like Brian Eno, Deftones, and the Dillinger Escape Plan. Working with Eno eventually led Rogerson back to his roots to a place where he could write Retreat to Bliss, his solo debut album.
Hayley Suviste is a sound artist and composer based in Manchester. Working across field recording, archival sound, electronic hardware and live instrumentation, Hayley uses her music to explore community and culture. Her work draws on first-hand oral histories and is made in collaboration with those who can provide the most accurate document of their environment.
